What this service covers
If water is going somewhere it should not, call us first. A phone call beats a form when a pipe has burst or a drain is overflowing, because the most useful thing in the first few minutes is a person telling you which tap or valve to turn off while help is organised. When you call during our listed hours you speak to a person, not a call centre, and we tell you straight away what we can do and when.
We handle urgent plumbing across Brighton, Brighton East, Hampton, Gardenvale, Elwood and Sandringham. Working in six suburbs only means we are never far from the job, and it means the wait time we give you on the phone is a real one. For urgent jobs like burst pipes we prioritise same-day where we can, and if we cannot get to you quickly we say so on the call, so you can decide what to do rather than sitting and hoping.
What counts as an emergency
- A burst pipe or a leak you cannot stop by turning off a tap
- Water coming through a ceiling or running down an internal wall
- A sewer drain overflowing inside the house or backing up into the shower or bath
- No water at all coming into the house
- A hot water system leaking steadily or a house with no hot water
- A flexible hose under a sink or toilet that has let go and is spraying water
- You can smell gas. Leave the area first, then call from a safe distance
If your problem is not on this list it can almost certainly wait for a booked visit. Request a quote instead and we will book a window that suits you.
What our plumber actually does
Answer the phone and triage on the spot
You describe what is happening and we tell you two things straight away: what to do right now to limit the damage, and honestly whether we can get to you today. If we cannot, we say so on that call rather than leaving you waiting.
Talk you through making it safe
For most water emergencies that means shutting off the main at the meter, which stops the damage while we are on our way. If water is near power points or light fittings we will tell you to switch off the affected circuits too. If you can smell gas, we tell you to leave the area first. We do not book gas work through this page, but we will point you to the right emergency contacts.
Get there with a stocked van
The van carries the fittings, valves, pipe and tools that cover most urgent repairs, including a drain machine for blockages, so the majority of emergencies are made safe or fully fixed on the first visit.
Make it safe first, then quote the proper repair
The immediate priority is stopping the water and protecting the house. Once things are under control, we assess the underlying problem and give you a fixed price for the full repair before that work starts. Emergency or not, you do not get surprise numbers on the invoice.
Finish properly or book the follow-up
Many urgent jobs are completed in the first visit. Where a repair needs a part we have to order, or drying-out time before walls can be closed up, we make everything safe and watertight, tell you exactly what remains, and book the second visit before we leave.
Local knowledge
Emergencies in Brighton and Bayside homes
Not every plumbing problem is an emergency, and it is worth knowing the difference before something goes wrong. The genuinely cannot-wait list is short: water you cannot shut off, sewage coming up inside the house, no water supply at all, and any suspicion of a gas leak. These get worse by the hour, and in the case of gas, the first move is to leave the area, not to pick up the phone from the kitchen.
The housing stock around Brighton and Bayside shapes what we get called out to. Older copper and galvanised mains in Brighton and Gardenvale fail suddenly rather than gradually, burst flexible hoses under sinks are a regular cause of flooded kitchens everywhere, and in Elwood a heavy downpour on low-lying blocks can turn a partly blocked stormwater drain into water at the back door. Salt air along the Sandringham and Hampton foreshore is hard on external hot water units, and when one lets go it tends to do it without warning.
A dripping tap, a slow drain or a running toilet is urgent to live with but not an emergency, and treating it as one just costs you more stress. For those, request a quote through the site instead and we will book a window that suits you. If you are not sure which side of the line your problem falls on, call anyway. Triage over the phone is free and takes two minutes.
How the job runs
Call or send a quote request
You describe the problem to a person, not a call centre. We ask the questions that tell us what gear to bring and how soon you need us.
We agree a window that suits you
We book a time window around your day and confirm the day before. We do not promise arrival times we cannot keep.
Fixed quote before work starts
We assess the job, explain what is going on and give you a fixed price. Nothing starts until you have agreed to it.
The work, then the tidy-up
Drop sheets down, the job done and tested, and the area cleaned before we leave. Your home is not a worksite.
Warranty on the work
Our workmanship is backed by our workmanship warranty and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Details are in our warranty policy.
Common questions
What actually counts as a plumbing emergency?
Call us now if any of these apply: water flowing that you cannot stop at a tap or the meter, sewage overflowing inside the house, water coming through a ceiling or near electrical fittings, no water supply at all, or a hot water system leaking steadily. If you smell gas, leave the area immediately, then call from a safe distance. Almost everything else, including dripping taps, slow drains and running toilets, can safely wait for a booked visit.
Are you available around the clock?
We take urgent calls during our listed business hours, and we are upfront that we do not promise availability beyond them. If you call about an urgent job we tell you honestly on the phone whether we can get to you that day. We would rather tell you a real wait time than advertise one we cannot keep.
What should I do while I wait for the plumber?
Turn the water off at the meter, usually near the front boundary. Switch off electricity to any area where water is near wiring. Open the lowest tap in the house to drain the remaining water out of the pipes, and move furniture and valuables clear. We will talk you through all of this on the phone, and our Burst Pipe First Response guide covers it step by step.
Do you still give a fixed price on emergency work?
Yes. Making the situation safe comes first, and we explain how the callout works before we set off. Once the water is under control and we can see the real problem, you get a fixed quote for the full repair before that work starts. An emergency does not change how we price.
What if I smell gas?
Do not switch anything on or off, and do not look for the leak yourself. Get everyone out of the house, leave doors open behind you if it is quick to do, and call for help from outside. Gas leaks should go to your gas distributor or emergency services first. We do not book gas work through this site, but if you ask us about gas we will point you in the right direction.
My problem is urgent to me but probably not an emergency. What should I do?
Request a quote through the site and say in the message that you would like it looked at soon. We book a window that suits you and confirm the day before. Genuine emergencies jump the queue because water and sewage do real damage by the hour, but urgent-to-you jobs are exactly what the booking form is for, and telling us the situation helps us slot you in sensibly.
How we price this work
We do not publish prices because honest plumbing pricing depends on what we find at your place, and a number on a website tells you nothing about your job. What we do promise is this: you get a fixed price before any work starts, we explain what it covers, and the invoice matches the quote. If we uncover something unexpected once work is underway, we stop and agree the change with you before going further.
Where we do this work
We do this work across all six of our suburbs, including Sandringham, Brighton and Brighton East. Many jobs sit alongside burst pipes and blocked drains, so it is worth mentioning anything else on your list when you get in touch.
