Repair with parts from the van
We carry the common inlet and outlet valves, flush mechanisms, seals and flexible connectors, so most repairs are finished in one visit. Genuinely obscure parts for older or imported suites sometimes need to be ordered, and in that case we make the toilet safe and usable, order the part, and book a second visit to fit it.
Clear blockages properly
For a blocked toilet we start with a closet auger. If the blockage sits further down the line, or it keeps coming back, that points to a drain problem rather than a toilet problem, and we treat it as one, with a camera inspection through our blocked drains service rather than repeat plunging.
Replace and test when replacement is the right call
A full replacement includes removing the old suite, checking the pan collar and floor flange, setting and sealing the new toilet, connecting the water, and testing the flush and every joint for leaks before we clean up and take the old unit away.

Bayside bathrooms span more than a century of plumbing standards, and toilets show it more than most fixtures. In the period homes of Brighton and the Art Deco flats of Elwood we still find older suites, sometimes with high-level or concealed cisterns, whose internals stopped being standard stock decades ago. These can usually be kept running, but it takes the right parts and a bit of patience rather than whatever a hardware shelf offers.
The other quirk of older homes is the mix of imperial and metric plumbing. Common questions
Why does my toilet keep running after the flush?
Usually one of two valves. If water trickles into the bowl, the outlet valve or its washer is not sealing. If the cistern overfills and drains through the overflow, the inlet valve is not shutting off. Both are standard repairs we carry parts for. Is a running toilet really worth fixing quickly?
Yes. A steadily running cistern can waste hundreds of litres a day, which shows up on your water bill, and the fix is usually quick. It is one of the best-value repairs we do.
Can you fix the toilet in an older home, or will I be told to replace it?
We repair older suites wherever parts allow, and for most of them parts do exist. We only recommend replacement when the cistern or pan is cracked, the internals are obsolete beyond sourcing, or the repair cost is close to the cost of a new suite. Either way you get the reasoning, not just the recommendation.

My toilet blocks every few weeks. Is that a toilet problem?
Probably not. A toilet that blocks once usually just ate something it should not have. A toilet that blocks repeatedly usually points to a partial blockage or root intrusion further down the sewer line, which is common in the older clay drains around Brighton and Brighton East. A camera inspection finds the real cause so you stop paying for the same fix.
How long does a toilet replacement take?
A straightforward like-for-like replacement is normally done in a single visit, including removal of the old suite and testing. If the floor flange or pan collar needs repair, or an unusual suite has to be ordered in, we tell you up front and arrange a second visit for the fit-off.
